Do you have times where life just seems difficult or overwhelming?
We all have times in our lives where things feel difficult, chaotic or overwhelming. Life seems harder, you tend to be more affected by the people, circumstances, and energies around you. Even if you wouldn’t normally describe yourself as sensitive, you may find yourself feeling unusually triggered or unable to cope.

The Holidays are a time when you may be struggling to maintain your normal balance and calm. Some of these tips may come in handy now and at other times when you’re under additional stress. There is often too much to do, too many expectations, and other emotional ups and downs that may come up at this time of year.
You may be feeling emotions more strongly, and have thoughts, feelings, and sensations that you just can’t explain. In the course of a day you may swing wildly from happy, to sad, to fearful and back up (hopefully) to feeling good?

1. Smiling Triggers the Release of Endorphins
The more endorphins you release, the happier you are! When you smile the muscle movement in your face triggers your brain to activate neurotransmitters which release endorphins. Endorphins like dopamine and serotonin are our feel-good chemicals.
I talk frequently to people in the healing professions or who work with the public and they are truly exhausted. They are doing their jobs because they care about people and want to help. The next month and upcoming elections in the United States are a source of great stress, worry and yes, even fear for many people. Taking time out to nurture yourself, taking care of your body and finding a break from the television, newspaper, internet and news will assist you in finding that place within you that is calm and peaceful.
One way to really get in touch with yourself and the peace, calm and beauty in your life is to spend some time in nature. Fall is one of my favorite seasons, the heat and humidity are gone, the air is crisp and feels almost magical. I love walking through leaves that crunch beneath my feet.
