August always brought that bitter sweet feeling of saying goodbye to summer and ramping up for the school year, when I was an Occupational Therapist working with special needs kids. In those days, I found that I needed plenty of energy to get going in September. I still find after all these years that September, even more so than January, marks the beginning of a new year for me.
Whether you are a teacher, parent, student or not, September frequently marks a change from the slower pace of summer to the renewed vigor and stress of “everyday life”. Instead of New Year’s Resolutions which may come months too late to help you get through this busy time, how about a game plan for the new healthy Back to School for you and your children?
If you are a parent, then you’re getting your child ready to enter an environment with many opportunities AND many challenges. If you are a teacher or student, you’ll be IN that environment. What goes into creating a healthy you for this school year?
