Self-care isn’t Selfish, it’s an Act of Love

self care - quoteSelf-care Isn’t Selfish. It’s an Act of Love

One of the biggest challenges for many of us is the need to do a lot of Self-care to assure we stay healthy and sane. It’s also often the last thing we make time for. When you change that, you’ll find your life improves and you have even more time for other people.

Do you Struggle with Feeling that You Are Being Selfish?an act of love

This is a common refrain, especially for women but for many men as well. You spend a lot of your time giving to others, loving, nurturing, hugging, cooking, just being a warm presence, or showing your caring in myriad ways.

You may have felt selfish by staying away, taking time out for yourself, and doing your best to stay healthy.  You may have even had pressure from others to do things differently. You may have managed to persevere, and you may not have always been able to withstand it, but congratulate yourself for doing your best and getting to the beginning of a new year.

Labor of Love or just Labor?

When you are tired, stressed, and unable to take time to take care of yourself, you become less able to enjoy your life and give to others.

You’re busy, you’re stressed, you feel you don’t have time to meditate, take a walk, get a massage, take that relaxing bath….you fill in the blanks with the enjoyments you cannot fit into your life. The things that used to please you – making a great meal, helping the kids with their homework, projects around the house or garden, etc. become just one more thing to get through. You spend all your time slogging through all your daily tasks, and you lose the sense of enjoyment and satisfaction and feel burdened.

The Catch-22 is that so often, in trying to be there for others, you aren’t there for yourself, and aren’t really there for others. I hate to point out the obvious, but you do need to take care of yourself first.

If you are able to take some time for yourself and practice self-care, you actually come back feeling refreshed and more able to feel the love and enjoyment that you desire. You also have more to give to those around you.

Taking Care of Yourself is an Act of Love

self-care types

When you take care of yourself, you show that you value your life and plan to stay healthy, engaged, and active for years.  You also declare your love for family, friends, and the world.

When you say “No” to things that put you at risk, you show courage and love in assuring that you and your loved ones stay safe and healthy. Instead of feeling guilty for all the times, you weren’t there, pat yourself on the back for your commitment and resolve to do what you felt was right.

It wasn’t easy saying “No” to family gatherings over the holidays. If you didn’t say “No,” you most likely took extra safety measures that may not have always been easy or popular. You may have given up many things that make your holidays merry. Staying firm despite invitations, guilt trips, and cajoling couldn’t have been easy.

If you couldn’t say “No” or felt that celebrating together was important, that’s okay too. When the world is in chaos and life is difficult, you are the only one who can decide what’s right for you. There’s a lot to be said for the love and solace of our friends and families.

Wearing a BioElectric Shield is also a form of Self-care

Wearing your BioShield helps your body, mind, and emotions stay strong. It protects you from EMF and also the negativity, opinions, and wants of others. It helps you stay strong in what you know and feel. The Shield can even help you make clearer decisions

Are other people counteracting your decisions to take care of yourself?

Has this ever happened to you? You find and order a product that you know will help you feel better physically, mentally, emotionally, or best yet, like the BioElectric Shield, all three? Shortly afterward, you mention it to your partner, who has none of the same issues/concerns, and they insist that you cancel the order. You cancel and feel a great sense of loss. Yes, you have to keep peace in the family, etc., but there are times you truly need to step up and take control of your own “self-care”. It’s not that your partner is uncaring. They just may not have the same sensitivity and can’t even begin to understand what it feels like to be impacted by technology and other people’s stress and negativity.

Why don’t your friends and family believe there is a problem?

Unless they feel the same things you do, they probably won’t “get it”. It’s difficult when those around you aren’t able to understand what you need and what a difference a Shield might make in your life. We have a lot of excellent articles on our website detailing the downside of technology as well as what it’s like to be an empath or HSP (highly sensitive person), these articles may help you to plead your case.  What previously was only an issue for “computer nerds” is now affecting almost everyone, and yet most people don’t have a clue why they’re tired, anxious, or unfocused and seem to not want to know.

Staying centered on your inner knowing and decisions

The Shield is strengthening your energy field and deflecting other people’s thoughts, emotions, and energy. This has many benefits, one of which is that oftentimes it’s easier to “hear” just your own thoughts and intuition. It’s not unusual for someone to call after getting the Shield, saying that for the first time ever, it’s easier to know what’s right for them and make decisions without outside influence.

Give yourself a hug! Give yourself a hug

Acknowledge your struggle and your successes, and let go of your shortcomings. You’ve been immensely strong to get to this point.

Focus on Your Emotions and Feelings of Hope and Gratitude

Use these insights and new coping skills to dig deep to find what you’re grateful for. Then take it a little further – start allowing your mind to wander and visualize the sun coming out from behind the clouds (either figuratively or literally), and let that light illuminate what you would like to see come about in the coming year.

This may be difficult when there are many unknowns – I won’t even try to innumerate all the what-ifs. Instead of trying to pin down exactly what should happen in your life, consider stepping away from your normal Goal Making and just let your heart lead you into a positive space.

Instead of specific goals of things, actions, etc, try feeling how you want to feel and let your inner guidance lead you to what you need to bring that in.

There are many unknowns – Allow for flexibility.

Although we’re not yet in “Life back to normal”, at least you know where you are and what to expect for the short term.

It seems like we’re adjusting and shifting things a lot more than usual. One of the things we know about life is that means you may have to adjust and adjust again, this is especially true when the world seems to be moving faster than ever.

When you allow for and expect things to keep changing, you won’t be as thrown by unexpected events but have a space in which you can move into or through with grace and positivity.

What we hope for you

We hope that you will be able to get a Shield or find techniques that will help you enjoy your life more. You can take our quiz one or both, or take advantage of our free photo analysis for a recommendation based on your EMF exposure and energy sensitivity.

If buying a Shield isn’t possible right now, please do take the quizzes – but most especially the HSP Quiz. It gives you info on your sensitivities and comes back with tips and techniques that can help you.

Also, check out our articles and blog posts and try some of the tips and suggestions we give for reducing your EMF and also for increasing your ability to cope, bolstering your ability to take care of yourself.

We wish you a year of laughter, joy, connections, and love.
