Wearing Your Shield

  • Wear around your neck. Most people find it easiest to just wear their Shield on a cord or chain. Wear under your clothing or on top, since it's so attractive.
  • Put in Pocket or bra:
    • Attach to key chain.
    • Or use the cord that comes with your Shield to secure it around a loop, and then stick it in the pocket. That way if you lean over, even if it comes out of your pocket, it's still attached to your belt loop! I garden a lot, and find this is a great place to secure the shield.
    • You can pin the shield to your bra very easily, or use the belt loop method around your bra strap to secure.

You left your Shield in your pocket and it got washed. Once or twice thru the washer won't hurt it. The crystal matrix is embedded in a holding material that cushions it and makes it resistant to high heat or extreme cold. Running the Shield through a dryer isn't a great idea, though and can be hard on the finish. If you do this, or have washed your Shield a bunch of times, consider sending it back for a recharge.

About the Shower

Your Shield is soldered together at 1400 degrees Fahrenheit! It's waterproof. You can wear it in the shower, or in the ocean or a lake. Chlorinated pools will tarnish a silver shield in minutes!

Polishing Your Shield

We recommend that you polish your Shield occasionally, but a dull shield will perform at nearly the same effectiveness as a polished one. The most important thing you can do is recharge your shield regularly.

You can use ordinary silver polish, or a polishing cloth for your silver shield. For a gold shield, a polishing cloth or soft cloth will suffice.
If you have a satin finish shield, we do recommend our Polishing Kit. The kit contains a polishing cloth and a buffing pad that will restore the satin, textured finish of your Shield. Buy Polishing Kit

Keeping your Shield fully charged

Keep your Shield at 100% power for the rest of your life either by charging regularly at home, or send to us every few years for a recharge.

Recharge at Home. Recharge your Shield monthly, or at least 3-4 times per year.
In 2009, we increased the power of our Crystal Charging Room so that you don't have to recharge it every month.
We personally continue to recharge it the first weekend of each month because it's just easier to remember. The good news is that you can go on a vacation and not worry you are missing a month or two.

If you get our newsletter, you'll receive reminders to recharge it - and other upbeat news.

  1. To charge: hang Shield either in a window, or preferably, outdoors, rain or shine, for 6 hours during the day. We recommend you choose one weekend a month (the first weekend is easy to remember for many of us). We usually set a timer, or put it in a place we will walk by later in the dayrecharge outside
  2. recharge window
  3. Outdoor tip: An easy way to hang your shield outside is to loop your shield over a lawn chair. You want it to dangle in mid-air so all sides are exposed.
  4. Hang in Window: If necessary, install a hook in your window so the Shield can dangle freely inside your window. We recommend 8 hours if recharging in a window.
  5. Car: We've even had people recharge the shield inside their car by hanging on rear-view mirror.
  6. DO NOT LEAVE SHIELD IN THE MOONLIGHT. Moonlight will drain your shield instead of recharging it! The moon is the reflected light and energy from the sun, and has the opposite energy polarity than the sun. Tip: If you tend to forget your Shield, do your recharging during a new moon (dark of the moon), that way if you forget it there's no moonlight to cause problems.

  7. Regular recharging will keep your shield in top condition for years to come.
If you forget and your Shield hangs overnight in the moonlight?
  1. A rule of thumb is to hang it out twice as many hours as it was exposed to moonlight. You need to recharge your shield for the next 2 days to restore to 100% functioning.
  2. If you have any doubt about the strength of your shield, you can make sure it's working at maximum efficiency by sending to have repolished and re-charged in our crystal room. You can request that our consultant personally examine your shield to make sure it is at 100% power after it's been recharged. If it's not, it will be placed in the Crystal Room until a full charge is achieved. (If this is not possible we will call you, but this seldom happens!)

Does it have to be sunny out? Can I charge it with salt water or full-spectrum lights? Will it charge up when I am wearing it on a sunny day?

  1. It does not have to be sunny out. The energy from the sun, not just the light, is rejuvenating the energy of the crystal matrix. This energy will be conducted through the metal to the crystals and recharge them even if it is cloudy, or hung in a window that doesn't get bright light.
  2. If you are hanging it in a window that blocks certain parts of the light spectrum, leave your Shield for 8 hours.
  3. Even if you are in sunlight, it will not recharge while you are wearing it. When you are wearing a Shield it is not in the "input" mode, it is in the "output" mode, which means it will be strengthening you as well as deflecting negative energy away from you.
  4. Salt water or full-spectrum lights don't recharge your Shield.

Does the Shield have to be cleansed? Does it pick up negative energy?

  1. When you are wearing a Shield it is not in the "input" mode. It is in the "output" mode, which means it will be deflecting negative energy away from you, not absorbing it. Therefore, the shield does not need to be "cleansed: with salt water or other traditional ways of cleansing crystals.
  2. The reason the Shield needs to be recharged is that the crystals will fatigue over time, it takes energy to do the work the Shield is doing for you. This can be compared to a rechargeable battery. Over time, the batteries need to be recharged or they will stop working. With the shield, as long as you charge your shield with regularity, it will work at 100% for years. If you miss a month or 2, just put your Shield out for 2 days in a row instead of 6 hours, and this should return it to full power.
What if I live near the Arctic Circle? If you put your shield out in whatever light you have each month, you will be fine. In the long light months, let it charge 12 hours. It WILL hold on to nearly ALL of its power during your dark months with the extra charging in the light months. We just suggest people do it each month so they get in the habit of putting it out because it is the easiest way to keep it at 100% for years to come. But, in truth, it CAN go for 5 or 6 months without recharging. And as soon as the light starts to appear again, put it out for as many minutes as the sun is out, remembering that by "sun" we simply mean, natural daylight.
