This newsletter brings some changes. In the past we've collected up to six articles and brought them to you in one long newsletter.

I don't know about you, but I'm feeling overwhelmed when I get so much information at once. In fact, I either delete it or put it aside to look at when I "have the time". Well, right, that hardly ever happens. So I don't read a lot of what comes in. Then later I may happen across it and find something that I wish I'd read earlier.

So what's changing? Rather than bring you one large word packed newsletter, we're going to send you shorter, to-the-point news with links to "the rest of the story". Please let us know how you like our new format.

We've written before about separating Truth from Hype in our lives. Swine flu or H1N1 and vaccination are at the front of the news right now. I've heard a few reasonable people talk and explain that the situation isn't as dangerous as it's been hyped up to be. But mostly we're all hearing the doom, gloom and "be very, very afraid" from the news, experts, doctors, CDC and an overwhelming number of sources.

Is there a way to know the TRUTH? Nope, sorry, I don't think so. Truth is never as clear as we might hope, more often it resides in shades of gray. I am sure that each person who is making themselves heard on the matter believes what they say is true and relevant.

Many experts disagree completely about how to prevent getting the flu (Swine or regular). They disagree about the effectiveness and safety of the vaccine. They disagree about how many deaths can be attributed to the flu. I've seen some reports that actual flu deaths in a normal year are only about 1,300, others say 36,000. It does seem clear that deaths directly related to the flu are fairly low, with approximately 96% from pneumonia infections.

So how do you decide what's right for you and your family? Do you get the vaccine? Will it help?

There's not an easy answer. But we can offer some alternatives. We'll also share some of our own prevention tips that may help you stay healthy this year.

during Flu and Cold Season

Yes, I know it's not the Swine Flu anymore, it's H1N1 virus, but you've got to admit this is an attention getting photo.

Tip 1: Protect your mucus membranes, use a non-petroleum chap-stick on your lips and the outside of your nostrils - this is sticky and attracts viruses before they enter your body! This is particularly useful if you are on an airplane, where air recirculates, or have contact with crowds, or people all day long. It's a clear substance - no one will even notice you have it on.
